Our Commitment to Privacy
LinkGuard Pro is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe that your website data and scan results should remain entirely under your control.
Your privacy matters. Use our tool knowing that your data never leaves your browser.
Data Collection: None
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your data to external servers.
- No server-side storage: All scan results, history, and configurations are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB
- No tracking: We do not use analytics, cookies, or tracking pixels
- No third-party services: No data is sent to third-party services (except when you explicitly scan external websites)
- No user accounts: No registration, authentication, or user profiles exist
How LinkGuard Pro Works
Client-Side Processing Only
- Link Scanning: When you scan a website, your browser directly fetches and analyzes the web pages
- Local Storage: Results are saved to your browser's IndexedDB database
- No Transmission: No scan data, URLs, or results leave your device
Data That Stays Local
All of the following data is stored only in your browser:
- Website URLs you scan
- Scan results and broken link reports
- Scan history and timestamps
- Your configuration preferences (scan depth, options, etc.)
Sharing Results
When you use the "Share Results" feature:
- Scan data is encoded into the URL hash fragment
- The URL can be shared with others
- Recipients can view the shared results in their browser
- Important: Shared URLs contain your scan data, so only share with trusted parties
Data Retention
- Your Control: All data persists in your browser until you manually delete it
- Browser Storage: Data is stored using IndexedDB, which persists across browser sessions
- Clearing Data: You can delete scan history at any time through the application or by clearing your browser data
Browser Permissions
LinkGuard Pro requires the following browser capabilities:
- Network Requests: To fetch web pages and check links (via Fetch API)
- IndexedDB: To store scan results locally in your browser
- Clipboard Access (optional): To copy shareable URLs (only when you click "Share")
External Link Checking
When you scan websites:
- Your browser sends HTTP requests directly to the URLs being checked
- This is equivalent to visiting those URLs in your browser
- The target websites may log your IP address and browser information per their privacy policies
- CORS Limitations: Due to browser security, some external links may not be fully checkable
No Cookies
LinkGuard Pro does not use cookies. All application state is managed through:
- Vue.js reactive state (in-memory, cleared on page refresh)
- IndexedDB (persistent, user-controlled)
Legal Compliance
GDPR Compliance
LinkGuard Pro is fully GDPR-compliant by design:
- No personal data collection: We don't collect or process personal data
- No consent required: Since no data is transmitted or stored on our servers
- Data portability: All data is already local and exportable (CSV/JSON)
- Right to erasure: Delete your data anytime by clearing browser storage
CCPA Compliance
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- We do not sell personal information (we don't collect any)
- We do not share personal information with third parties
- No opt-out mechanisms are necessary since no data is collected
