What LinkGuard stores, what it sends, and how to clear it.
In your browser
Saved link lists and their last results are kept in your browser's localStorage under the key linkguard:lists, so you can re-check a list later and see what changed. They never leave your device unless you check them again.
Sent to our server
- Link checks, redirect traces, sitemap, soft-404 and mixed-content scans: only the URL(s) you submit. Our function requests them, returns the result and forgets it. We don't log submitted URLs or results. Your IP address is held in memory for a few minutes to enforce fair-use limits.
- Pasted HTML, Markdown and text are parsed in your browser; only the URLs extracted from them are sent, and only when you press Check.
- Link safety heuristics and the URL parser run entirely in your browser.
- AI features (fix plan, AI second opinion) send the problem URLs or the suspicious link plus our findings to a language model via Vercel AI Gateway, only when you press the button. Don't paste private information into them.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics service, to count page views. It doesn't use cookies or build cross-site profiles.
Hosting
The site runs on Vercel. Their standard request logs may include IP addresses for a short period for security and operations.
